Advanced Search & Saved Views
Advanced Search puts one search bar above a live transaction list. Type to narrow the list, add filters as chips, and save the combination as a view you can reapply in one tap.
TL;DR
- The Transactions tab and the Advanced Search page share the same bar.
- The bar is one control: the field holds the words you type and the filters you have added.
- Type in the field and the list narrows as you type. Press Enter to keep that word as a chip, then type another one.
- Focus the field, or tap the +, to see every filter you can add: Type, Status, Scheduled, Envelope, Account, Date range, Amount range, Tags, Payees, or Items. The menu drops under the field and leaves the list visible.
- Every filter you add shows up as a chip inside the field, with an x that removes it.
- Tap a chip to change what it holds.
- The three-dot menu holds the sort order and Clear all filters.
How to open it
- From Transactions. The Transactions tab carries the same bar, so you can filter the whole ledger without leaving it.
- From More or a detail page. Tap Advanced search in the More hub, or tap View all from an account or envelope page. A detail page may prefill a filter for you, such as a specific account, envelope, or date window.
If a saved view is applied, its name appears as a small subtitle under the page title.

Where to find it: Open a saved view, then scroll, the name stays visible as a subtitle in the app bar
The search bar
The bar is a single field. What you type goes in the top row, and every filter you have added sits inside the same rounded field as a chip. When multiple filters are added, they wrap across rows directly below the search row, keeping the search field at full width so your words never get cramped.
Typing
Type any word and the list narrows as you type. You do not need to tap a search button.
A word matches the transaction's description, its notes, and the name of the payee it carries. A number also matches a transaction with exactly that amount, so 12.50 finds the $12.50 purchase and nothing else.
Names of envelopes, accounts, tags, and items are not part of the text search. To narrow by an envelope, add the Envelope filter and pick it, so a word that happens to match an envelope name does not drag in every transaction filed under it.
Keeping a word
Press Enter to keep the word you typed. It becomes a chip inside the field and the field is empty again, ready for the next word. The results do not change when you press Enter, the word was already filtering them.
The Text chip can hold several words. Multiple words match Any term (OR) by default, so searching for several terms includes transactions that match any of them. Tap the Text chip to see the words it holds and to switch between Any term and All terms (where every word must match). Tapping a word in that list removes it.
Adding a filter
Focus the field and the filter menu drops under it, the way suggestions appear under a search field. The + opens the same menu. It lists what you can filter on:
- Text: the search field itself.
- Type: income, expense, or transfer. Pick as many as you like.
- Status: placeholder, pending, cleared, or reconciled.
- Scheduled: both, scheduled only, or manual only.
- Envelope: pick envelopes in the Select Envelopes screen.
- Account: pick an account in the Select Account screen.
- Date range: a from date and a to date.
- Amount range: a minimum and a maximum.
- Tags, Payees, Items: pick them in their own screens. For these three you can also choose to exclude the ones you pick instead of including them.
Choose Text and the menu closes so you can type straight away. Choose Envelope, Account, Tags, Payees, or Items and the picker opens; what you pick comes back as a chip. Choosing a filter with a short list of values, such as Type or Status, swaps the menu in place, so you can pick several values without opening it again.
Reading a chip
Each chip names its filter and what it holds: Envelope: Groceries, Type: Expense, Status: Pending. A filter holding several values shows the first one and a count, like Envelope: Groceries +2.
Tap a chip to open it and change what it holds. Tap the x on the chip to drop that filter.
Envelopes
When you filter by envelopes, split transactions narrow to only show the portion allocated to the envelopes you picked. The row amount, breakdown, and day totals reflect that in-scope portion rather than the full transaction amount. Rows that show part of a split transaction display a split badge ("Part of a split transaction").
A parent envelope matches its own allocations only, not those of its child subenvelopes. To include a subenvelope's spending, pick that subenvelope too.
Date range
Pick a from date and a to date. The range includes the whole day you pick, so the from date starts at the beginning of that day and the to date ends at the end of it.
Amount range
Set a minimum, a maximum, or both. Amounts update the list as soon as you change them. The fields use the same number input you see elsewhere in the app.
Sorting
The three-dot menu holds the order of your results:
- Newest first groups your results under date headings, newest at the top. This is the default.
- Highest amount puts your largest transactions first, with no date headings.
- Lowest amount puts your smallest transactions first, with no date headings.
Your choice sticks. Changing another filter keeps the order you picked.
Not every view offers an order. The month spending view you reach from the Budget Overview card does, and it offers nothing else to filter by, because the month's envelope scope is already fixed and a second filter would list different money than the chart above it. Changing the order never redraws the chart, so the burn-up line always describes the whole month.
Clearing filters
Clear all filters in the three-dot menu removes every chip and empties the field in one tap.
Results update live
Every change you make reloads the list right away, starting from the top. You keep seeing the previous results while the new ones load, with a thin progress line under the app bar.
Scroll down to load more. CentBase loads the next page automatically when you get near the bottom. Tap a row to view its details. Swipe a row to edit it. You can also select multiple rows for bulk actions.
Bulk operations protect split transactions. Rows that show part of a split transaction cannot be modified in bulk. If your selection contains only partial-split rows, CentBase notifies you that nothing will change and skips the action dialogs. If your selection mixes complete transactions with partial-split rows, the confirmation dialog notes how many split rows remain unchanged, and CentBase updates only the complete transactions.
If you filtered too tightly and see no results, remove a chip one at a time or clear everything to start over.
Saved views
The bookmark icon in the app bar opens your Saved views.
Each row displays the view name, an active filter summary (such as envelopes, accounts, transaction types, date windows, tags, and amount ranges), and an Applied badge if that view is active.
Save the current filter
Tap Save current view at the top of the sheet. Enter a name, such as Groceries last month, and save. CentBase remembers every filter active at that moment, including the words you kept as chips. Your saved views are kept separately for each budget.
Apply a saved view
Tap any row in the sheet to apply it. The bar updates to the saved values, the list reloads immediately, and the view name appears as a subtitle under the page title. You can still adjust individual filters afterward; changes update the live results without altering the saved view.
Search saved views
When you have more than 5 saved views, a search box appears at the top of the sheet. Type any part of a view name to filter the list. Tap the clear button in the search field to restore the full list.
Rename a saved view
Press and hold any row to rename it. Edit the name in the dialog and tap Save. If that view is currently applied, the subtitle in the app bar updates as well.
Reorder saved views
Drag the handle on the right side of a row to arrange your views in whatever order works best for you. Drag handles remain active whenever you are not searching.
Delete a saved view
Tap the trash icon on the right side of a row, then confirm the prompt. This only deletes the saved view preset; your transactions are never affected.
If a saved view refers to an envelope, account, or tag that was deleted, CentBase alerts you that the view could not be applied.

Month spending
Tapping a pace or spending banner on the Budget Overview card, or the spent figure on that card, opens a month spending view for the month you are looking at. It is a read-only drill-down built around a burn-up chart.
Where to find it: Home, then a pace banner or the spent figure on the Budget Overview card
What it shows:
- The month, scoped to your budget. Every expense envelope the budget counts for that month is included. Spending on an envelope you have excluded from the budget is left out, and so is income. An archived envelope is still included, because its money still counts toward the month.
- A burn-up chart above the list, showing your running total for the month against a straight line from zero to your month's allocated total, with a dotted projection to where the month is headed and a dimmed line from the previous month for comparison. The over-budget figure on the chart is the same one the banner that opened the view reported.
- A list that starts newest first, grouped by date, matching the rest of the app. The three-dot menu offers the order here, so you can switch to highest or lowest amount. Nothing else is filterable, because the month's envelope scope is already fixed and a second filter would list different money than the chart above it. Changing the order never redraws the chart, so the burn-up line always describes the whole month.
The chart needs CentBase Plus. Without it you see the Plus prompt in the chart's place, and the list below still works.
You cannot save this view as a Saved view. It is a built-in drill-down, and its bookmark icon is not shown.
Loading, empty, and error states
While the first page loads you see a spinner in the center of the screen. If that load fails you will see Could not load transactions with a Try again button, tap it to retry with the same filters.
If more results fail to load while you are scrolling, the list stays visible and you will see a short message that more transactions could not be loaded. Try scrolling again or remove a filter.

Sample use cases
- Show me every grocery expense last month. Add the Type filter and pick Expense, add the Envelope filter and pick Groceries, then set the Date range to the first and last day of last month. When it looks right, open the bookmark sheet and tap Save current view as Groceries last month. Next month, just apply it and change the two dates.
- Find a merchant you half remember. Type the merchant's name in the search field. Because the search reads payee names, the transactions it finds are the ones paid to that merchant, even when the description says something else.
- Where are my scheduled transactions. Add the Scheduled filter and choose Scheduled only. The list now shows only transactions that came from a schedule. Add Status and pick Pending if you want to catch what still needs clearing.
- Large purchases this quarter. Add the Amount filter with a minimum of 200.00 and the Date range covering the last three months. Browse the results to spot your biggest spends.
- Reuse last month research. Tap the bookmark icon and apply Holiday high spend. The bar, including envelopes, tags, dates, and amounts, jumps to the saved values and the subtitle shows the view name. Adjust a date if needed, then save the current view under a new name if you want to keep the change.
- I filtered too tightly and see nothing. No results means no transaction matched that exact combination. Tap Clear all filters to start over, or remove a chip one at a time.
