Notifications

The Notifications Hub is a central place where every alert, reminder, and suggestion in CentBase comes together. Instead of hunting through different screens to find what needs your attention, you open one list and see it all.

TL;DR

Open More then Notifications to see every alert in one place: reminder pings, scheduled transaction nudges, advance reminders for upcoming transactions, and Smart Capture suggestions. Each entry links to the feature it is about. You can filter by type, swipe or clear entries away, and tap to act on them.

Where to find it: More then Notifications

What shows up in the hub

The hub gathers several kinds of alerts into one scrollable list:

  • Reminders you created for transactions, accounts, or envelopes. These are the notification-only pings you set up yourself. See Reminders.
  • Scheduled transaction nudges from CentBase. When a scheduled transaction posts, CentBase records a nudge here for the day it happened. See Scheduled transactions.
  • Upcoming transaction reminders when you turn them on in Budget Health. CentBase warns you a few days before a scheduled transaction posts, and the warning lands here too. See Home for the setting.
  • Smart Capture suggestions when the feature is enabled. These are parsed transaction suggestions from notifications on your watched apps. See Smart Capture.

Each entry shows the alert name, the time it was created, and a short detail line. The icon and color match the feature it belongs to. Entries you have not seen yet show a New pill and sit at the top of the list.

An App update entry appears here too when a newer version is available. Tapping it opens Google Play, and it clears on its own once you update. You cannot dismiss it by hand.

The daily log reminder is the one reminder that never shows up here. It is a nudge on your phone to record what you spent, not a record of something that happened, so it stays out of the hub. You set it up in More then Preferences. See Preferences.

Filter chips

At the top of the hub you will see filter chips that let you narrow the list:

  • All shows every entry together
  • Smart Capture shows only Smart Capture suggestions
  • Reminders shows only reminders you created
  • Scheduled shows only scheduled transaction nudges
  • Upcoming shows only advance reminders for upcoming transactions
  • App update shows only the update entry

Tap a chip to filter. The active chip is highlighted. Switch back to All to see everything.

Tapping an entry

What happens depends on the entry:

  • A reminder opens a detail sheet with the reminder details. You can edit reminders you created yourself from there. Reminders CentBase manages on its own, like a credit card due date reminder, show the details without an Edit button.
  • A scheduled transaction nudge opens a detail sheet with the amount, account, and template.
  • An upcoming transaction reminder opens the Scheduled screen, where you can review or change the schedule.
  • A Smart Capture suggestion opens Add Transaction with the details pre-filled. See Smart Capture.
  • An app update opens Google Play so you can update.

The entry stays in the hub until you dismiss it, until you clear it, or until the underlying suggestion is converted into a transaction.

Dismissing entries

There are three ways to get entries out of the hub. In every case, the reminder or schedule behind the entry is left alone, and you are asked to confirm first.

Swipe. Swipe an entry left and confirm. The entry leaves the hub.

From the detail sheet. Tap an entry, then tap the delete icon in the top-right corner of the sheet.

Clear all. Open the 3-dot menu in the top-right and choose Clear all. This removes every entry the current filter shows, so it is a quick way to tidy up a busy list. Pick a filter chip first if you only want to clear one type, or leave it on All to clear everything. The confirmation tells you how many entries will go.

For Smart Capture suggestions, dismissing the entry also retires the suggestion so it does not come straight back.

The App update entry is the one exception. It cannot be swiped away, deleted, or cleared. It disappears on its own once you install the update.

Permissions and the master switch

The hub relies on your phone's notification system for reminders and scheduled nudges. If the Push Notifications switch in Preferences is off, reminders and scheduled nudges will not appear in the hub or as phone notifications.

Smart Capture suggestions appear in the hub regardless of the Push Notifications switch, since they come from a different source (the Android notification listener). However, Smart Capture must be enabled and have Notification access to work.

The daily log reminder is deliberately not in this table. It is a phone notification you configure in Preferences, and it never adds an entry to the hub.

Sample use cases

  • You see a Smart Capture suggestion. Open More then Notifications, find the suggestion, and tap it. Add Transaction opens with the amount and payee already filled in. Adjust the envelope if needed and save.

  • A reminder fired while you were away. Open the hub and find the reminder entry. It shows the name you gave it and the time it fired. Tap it to open the details, then tap Edit to change it.

  • You want to see only Smart Capture suggestions. Tap the Smart Capture filter chip at the top. The list narrows to just suggestions from your watched apps.

  • An upcoming bill is about to post. An advance reminder appears in the hub a few days before, if you turned it on in Budget Health. Tap it to open Scheduled and confirm the amount and account are right.

  • Your hub is full of old alerts. Open the 3-dot menu and choose Clear all to remove everything the current filter shows. If you only want the Smart Capture suggestions gone, tap that chip first, then clear.
