Guided tutorials
Guided tutorials walk you through a short budgeting task one step at a time. A tutorial that changes data runs in a temporary Tutorial budget, so you can practice without changing your real budget.
What you see
The objective stays at the top of the screen while you move between pages, pickers, and amount sheets. It shows the current step and your progress through the lesson. The highlighted control shows whether to tap or swipe next.
A step finishes only after you complete the real action it describes. For example, a transaction step waits for the transaction to save, and an amount step checks the amount before moving on. A tap somewhere else does not skip the step.
When you choose Start in a completion dialog, the next lesson resets the practice budget to its own prepared sample figures before its first caption appears. It does not start on the previous lesson's inputs.
Gesture steps
Some lessons ask you to swipe instead of tap. In Budget and spend, swipe the Groceries row from right to left to open a prefilled expense form. In Read your Home cards, swipe the highlighted card to move to the next card.
Gesture steps name the direction in the objective. A tap does not replace the required swipe, and a swipe in the wrong direction does not open another screen.
Amount steps
Some lessons ask for an exact amount. The calculator shows the target and offers Use {amount} as a shortcut. Quick Fill places the amount in the draft only. Press the check button when you are ready to confirm it.
If the amount is empty, invalid, or different from the target, the calculator keeps the draft open and shows what to correct. Arithmetic buttons and the sign control are unavailable during these strict amount steps. Ordinary amount entry outside a tutorial keeps its usual calculator behavior.
Choosing an item
When a lesson asks you to choose an account or Envelope, the expected item is identified by the tutorial's temporary data. Picking another item does not close the picker or change the form. Confirm the highlighted item to continue. A tutorial never uses a different budget to fill a missing choice.
Leaving a tutorial
Use Exit tour in the objective bar when you want to stop. CentBase first closes the calculator, sheets, and pushed pages, then restores the budget and month you started with. The exit is safe to request more than once, and late taps from the old step do not restart the lesson.
The same cleanup runs after a completed lesson or after the app recovers a tutorial that was interrupted.
Summary
| When you... | What happens |
|---|---|
| Follow the highlighted control | The current step records the real action. |
| Use Quick Fill | The amount is filled in the draft, not saved. |
| Choose the wrong item | The picker stays open and explains the expected choice. |
| Follow a gesture step | Swipe in the stated direction; a tap or opposite swipe does not advance it. |
| Choose Exit tour | Routes close, the temporary budget is removed, and your original month returns. |
Sample use cases
Learn the basic loop
Start with Add your first income, record the sample income, choose the checking account and Salary / Wages Envelope, then save. The lesson shows where the money landed.
Practice filling Envelopes
Open Budget and spend, fill Groceries and Bills with the sample amounts, and record the two sample expenses. The final Home card reflects the sandbox activity.
Check leftover money
Open Leftovers carry over, fill Groceries, spend part of it, then move to the next month. The lesson shows the remaining balance carried into that month.
