Payees
A payee is a person or business you pay or receive money from. Attaching a payee to your transactions tells you at a glance who your money goes to and where it comes from.
TL;DR
Payees are optional labels you attach to transactions. Open More then Payees to see the full list. Tap any payee to see their transaction history and spending outlook. You can add, edit, or archive payees from that list. When adding a transaction, the payee picker lets you search and select from your known payees, or create a new one on the spot.
How payees work
A transaction's name and its payee are two separate things. The name is free text describing the transaction, like "Weekly shop". The payee is an optional link to a person or business in your payee list, like "Grocery Mart". Typing a name never creates a payee on its own. A payee is only attached when you pick one.
To attach a payee, open the transaction form and tap the Payee row. The picker opens with a search bar at the top and your known payees below. Tap one to attach it. If nothing matches what you type, the empty state offers to create that payee for you right there. The "+" button opens the full editor so you can set a description, icon, and color before saving.
For example, you record a transaction named "Weekly shop" and attach the "Grocery Mart" payee. Later, opening the "Grocery Mart" payee shows every transaction you ever linked to it, no matter what each one was named.
The payees list
Open More then Payees to see every payee in your budget. Each row shows:
- The payee name
- How many transactions are linked to it
- The total amount spent or received
Tap any payee to open its details.
Payee details
The payee details page shows:
- A list of every transaction with that payee, sorted by date
- A spending outlook chart showing the daily trend and projection for that payee
- The total spent or received over time
This is useful for spotting patterns. For example, opening your "Grocery Mart" payee shows how much you spend there each month and whether your spending is trending up or down.
Adding and editing payees
You can add a payee manually from the payees list. Tap Add, give it a name, and save. This is handy if you want to set up a payee before recording a transaction with them.
To edit, tap a payee row then choose Edit. You can rename the payee or archive it.
Archiving payees
Archiving a payee removes it from the active list without deleting any transactions. Archived payees still show up in old transactions but do not appear in the payee picker when adding new transactions.
To archive, open the payee details and choose Archive. To unarchive, turn on Show archived in the payees list and tap the payee to restore it.
The payee picker
When you add or edit a transaction, tapping the payee field opens the payee picker. This shows your known payees with a search bar at the top. Start typing and the list filters to matching names. Tap a payee to select it. If nothing matches, the screen offers to create the payee from what you typed. The "+" button opens the full editor instead, so you can set a description, icon, and color up front.
